A Holiday Meal to Remember

On Friday, December 2nd, the holiday season got off to a joyful start at Strathcona Community Centre as 200 members of its Backpack Program came together for a holiday dinner hosted by Peterson.  The delicious and nutritious buffet-style dinner included juicy turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, creamy mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, salad, baguettes, and a beautiful cake for dessert.

Peterson volunteers were delighted to get to know the families who participate in the Strathcona Community Centre Backpack Program over dinner, but all those in attendance agreed that the highlight of the evening was a surprise visit by Santa Claus and one of his elves!  And more than just a delicious and nutritious dinner, Peterson volunteers valued the opportunity to spend time with the Backpack Program families, a group of people who provide encouragement, support, and leadership in their community.
