Peterson chef's make a meal for the families of the Ronald McDonald House

On Monday, February 20th, our volunteers had an eye-opening experience at Ronald McDonald House British Columbia (RMH BC). Some of Peterson’s finest home cooks carefully planned a nutritious menu consisting of oven-roasted chicken thighs, mashed potatoes, assorted roasted vegetables, and apple pie a la mode. Dinner was cooked and served on site to the families who deserved a night off from the busyness in their life. Throughout the night, our volunteers had a chance to speak with some of the families and children to learn about their stories and time here at RMH BC. After cleaning up, a tour of the house was given and the staff showed us the magic of the house and why it was so unique.

RMH BC provides a second home for seriously ill children and their families. The warm and inviting space encourages all guests to spend time together and take their mind off the stressful moments. This is especially important for families who must travel to Vancouver for their child’s major treatment. RMH BC hosts over 100 people at a time from across British Columbia and the Yukon with a typical stay being over half a year.

With all that comes with life, sometimes we just need a shoulder to lean on. During these times, we appreciate the support that Ronald McDonald House provides for the many families in need.
