Ben actively participates in the acquisition, financing, development, redevelopment and management of each asset in the Peterson portfolio.

In 1983, Ben graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) as a Doctor of Dental Medicine and went on to start a successful dental practice in Vancouver. At the same time, he began to follow in his father’s entrepreneurial footsteps and focused his career in real estate. In 2000, Ben divested his dental practice and took over from his father, and the founder of Peterson, Peter Young.

Ben devotes his time to serving the community as a Board Member of the Vancouver General Hospital & UBC Hospital Foundation, UBC Faculty of Dentistry, as a Director of Tung Lin Kok Yuen Canada Society, Tung Lin Kok Yuen Canada Foundation and as Vice President of the Shandong Natives Association of BC.

After 8 years in public practice as a Chartered Accountant, Beverly joined Peterson in 2005 in the position of Controller. In her current role as Vice President, Finance, Beverly leads the strategic direction and coordination of the Company’s financial planning, cash management, debt financing, budget management, and accounting and tax functions. 

Beverly serves as a Director for Cooking for a Cause Society, a not-for-profit society that cooks and distributes nutritious, delicious and wholesome food to under resourced children and their families in local communities.

Ian joined Peterson as General Counsel in 2017 after nine years of experience in private legal practice in Vancouver and New York, most recently as a partner in the commercial real estate group of a leading Canadian law firm.  As General Counsel, Ian provides advice and guidance in the formation and execution of Peterson’s business strategy.

Ian holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Business Administration (First Class Honours) from Simon Fraser University.

Jane Young | Vice President, Corporate Relations | 604.699.5200

As Vice President, Corporate Relations, Jane oversees the Peterson Foundation whose mandate is to support initiatives that effect positive change in the community and inspire philanthropy in others. Jane joined Peterson in 2003 in the position of Director of Human Resources. 

With her children and friends, Jane is co-founder of Cooking for a Cause, a not-for-profit society that cooks and distribute nutritious, delicious and wholesome food to under resourced children and their families in local communities. She has also served on the Board of the BC Cancer Foundation from 2013 to 2015 and led the committee to create the inaugural “Hope Couture” event, an fashion show and luncheon fundraiser which continues to be a driving force to help raise money for cancer research initiatives.

Joining Peterson in 2017 Mark brings over 27 years’ experience in real estate having previously held leadership positions with prominent corporate and private real estate companies in both BC and Alberta. He is responsible for providing leadership, direction and strategic advice on asset management, leasing, and property management to optimize cash flow, net income, and value of the Company’s real estate portfolio.

Mark serves as the Managing Broker for Peterson for both BC and Alberta, holds a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from UBC Sauder School of Business and has achieved the RI designation from The Real Estate Institute of British Columbia. He actively participates in various charitable organizations in the community he lives in and through real estate industry initiatives.

Raymond Choy | President | 604.699.2289

Raymond brings over 20 years of experience in real estate and business to the role of President at Peterson. He is responsible for the strategic direction, operations, and execution of every aspect of our business across North America.

Previously holding the position of Chief Investment Officer, Raymond energetically led our investment team, responsible for acquisitions and dispositions, developments, capital lending, private equity, and partnerships. His acuity for business and approach to opportunities have helped to continually evolve Peterson during his tenure. Alongside the leadership team, he relentlessly guides the company’s growth and operations through changing environments while constantly exploring new endeavors.

Raymond is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University. He is active in the community, having participated in many of Peterson's charitable initiatives, and served as past Director of NAIOP and Chair of the NAIOP Education Committee.

Investment and Development

Darren began his career with Peterson in 2005, and over the course of 10 years with the Company gained valuable experience in the areas of real estate investment, asset management, capital lending, accounting and finance.  In 2015, Darren Wong left the Company to join a Vancouver-based private equity firm / publicly traded REIT focused on the acquisition and asset management of office and multi-family apartment buildings in the United States.  Darren rejoined Peterson in 2017 and is responsible for sourcing and managing Peterson’s real estate investment activities. 

Darren graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Capilano University in 2005, where he played on the men’s varsity soccer team, attained his Certified Management Accounting designation in 2009 (CPA, CMA), and completed the Diploma in Urban Land Economics in 2016 through UBC Sauder School of Business. Darren is a past member of the U40 Committee for the Urban Development Institute, Pacific Region and currently serves on the Developing Leaders Committee for NAIOP Vancouver.

Joining Peterson in 2009 with 5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, Evan leads the development and growth of Peterson Capital’s commercial mortgage lending business.

Evan graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2001 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Urban Land Economics (Real Estate) and has completed the Canadian Securities Course, (Hons).

Tim is responsible for sourcing and managing Peterson’s development investment activities. Tim began his career at Peterson in 2008 then left the Company in 2011 to gain experience with a local Vancouver-based development company to gain knowledge and expertise in real estate development. Tim then returned to Peterson in 2014.

Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering with Distinction from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2008 and completed his Diploma in Urban Land Economics through UBC Sauder School of Business in 2013. Tim currently serves as a U40 Committee Member for the Urban Development Institute, Pacific Region.

Dave joined Peterson as General Manager of Portage Place in 2008 bringing with him 30 years of retail management experience. In 2013 he obtained the Certified Shopping Centre Manager (CSM) designation from the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC).

Dave is a member of the Winnipeg’s Downtown Business Improvement Zone, serving on the Board, the Executive Committee, the Downtown Safety, and Marketing and Events Committees. 

In 2013, Dave was honoured to be a recipient of the Mayor’s Award for his commitment to the revitalization of Downtown Winnipeg.

Drew joined Peterson in 1989 as Project Manager and is involved with both new construction projects and renovations to existing buildings.

Drew received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of British Columbia and an Alpha Rho Chi Medal for Leadership. For over 30 years Drew was a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and served on the AIBC Communications Committee, he continues to work closely with architects on current Peterson projects.

Ivy joined Peterson in 2001 and has held various positions within the commercial real estate leasing team during her tenure with the Company. In her current role as Leasing Manager, Ivy is responsible for all of the day to day leasing of Peterson’s commercial properties. 

Ivy is an active member of Building Manager and Owners Association (BOMA) BC.

Steve joined Peterson in 1995 as a member of the maintenance team and has taken on progressively broader roles and responsibilities through the positions of Chief Building Engineer, Operations Manager, Commercial Division General Manager and currently as Manager, Facilities & Environmental Technologies. Steve has achieved his British Columbia Provincial 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate, Property Manager License and his Facilities Management Administrator designation.

Steve’s diverse experience includes, leading capital projects, negotiating multi-property service contracts, evaluating property acquisitions and putting into service high profile developments.

Vira joined Peterson Residential in 2010 and with her broad knowledge of the Strata Property ActResidential Tenancy Act and requirements of other governing bodies, Vira ensures that her clients are aware of all available avenues to any given challenge or opportunity. 

Arriving in Canada in 2002 from the Ukraine with her Masters of Mathematics from Lviv University, Vira obtained licenses in property management, strata management, trading and broker from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.

Bennet joined Peterson in 1998 with 13 years of hospitality industry experience with leading luxury hotel brands both locally and overseas. As the General Manager of Carmana Plaza, Bennet is responsible for the establishment of brand value in service areas, building operations and client satisfaction, the ongoing business development in targeted market shares and the management of a dedicated, focused and capable team while optimally utilizing financial resources.

Bennet has a Bachelor of Science, (Hons) from Sheffield City Polytechnic, a Masters of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Stirling, Scotland, and a postgraduate diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom. Bennet is a Member of the Institute of Hospitality and a licensed Property Manager.

Li is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions including corporate, development, commercial and residential ensuring all internal and external reporting requirements are met. Li joined Peterson in 2011 in the position of Controller bringing 8 years of experience in public practice. 

Following completion of her business degree from British Columbia Institute for Technology, Li earned her designation as a Chartered Accountant in 2007.

Michael joined Peterson in 2010 with 20 years of experience in real estate property accounting. Michael is responsible for leading a team of property accountants, overseeing all aspects of accounting and reporting for the strata, commercial and retail departments.

Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, (Hons) in accounting from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, followed by his Certified General Accountant designation.

Joining Peterson in 2010 with 9 years of experience working with a global accounting firm, Minoru is responsible for all aspects of tax, including strategic planning, corporate structuring, estate and succession planning.

Following completion of his Bachelor of Commerce, (Hons) from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Minoru earned his Chartered Accountant designation and has completed Level III of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Program.

Minoru serves on the Finance Committee of Fraser Lands Church and volunteers as a mentor for the UBC Sauder School of Business Executive Mentorship Program.

Natalia Venida | Director, Human Resources | 604.688.4885

Natalia brings over 15 years of human resources and management consulting experience from various industries including professional services, high-tech, manufacturing, retail, and product distribution. As Director of Human Resources, Natalia is responsible for various strategic HR initiatives that attract, develop and engage the best talent in the industry, in support of Peterson’s culture and values.

Natalia holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia with a specialization in HR Management. She also holds a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

Outside of work, Natalia is an active volunteer and mentor for Dress for Success Vancouver, a non-profit organization that provides career services and support to disadvantaged women in our community.

After 9 years of experience in public practice, Shawna joined Peterson in 2012 and leads a team of accountants in all matters relating to corporate and development accounting.  

Graduating with a Bachelor of Technology in Accounting, (Hons) from British Columbia Institute of Technology, Shawna earned her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 2006 and was recognized as one of the top ten CGA graduates in her year. She has also completed Level III of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Courses.
