Peterson has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Project Coordinator to join a growing construction team. This role involves handling the daily operations of Peterson's construction department. They will work closely on all construction projects undertaken by the company. The Project Coordinator will act as a mediator between the project team, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and effective tracking of project progress. Working directly with the Project Managers and reporting to the Vice President, Construction, this newly created position is responsible for supporting the construction department with all its administrative needs.

The ideal person is highly organized and an effective communicator who works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.  The role is best suited for an individual who is driven by a desire to learn and possesses flexibility in handling tasks as they arise. Additionally, the position requires an individual with a meticulous attention to detail and eagerness to learn. The position is best suited for someone who has a keen interest in construction and is looking for an opportunity to work with a small dynamic team to gain exposure to the entire construction process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating, tracking and monitoring the status of key documentation pertaining to construction;
  • Coordinating meetings with all project stakeholders;
  • Attending project team meetings, record meeting minutes, action items, and present updates;
  • Assisting construction team with the overall management of all construction projects;
  • Assisting the Project Managers with managing the shop drawing;
  • Collecting, documenting and filing field data (measurements, pictures, etc.) as required;
  • Assisting the Pre-Construction Manager with accurate/detailed take-offs using on screen software;
  • Assisting with close out documents;
  • Performing general administrative and recordkeeping functions including the review and distribution of documentation; preparation of correspondence and meeting minutes; maintenance of files, logs, drawings, specifications, submittals and RFIs;
  • Overseeing project invoicing, and review subcontractor applications for payments; and
  • Working with accounting department to ensure project accounting is accurate and timely.

What You Bring

  • Degree or diploma in construction and/or engineering, with at least 2 years’ of experience working in a construction related field;
  • Developing positive and professional relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders while practicing excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills;
  • Advanced skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel);
  • Efficient and effective time management and project management, demonstrating ability to meet deadlines while producing quality and accurate work;
  • Detail oriented, organized and ability to prioritize;
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment;
  • Self-motivated and passionate team player; and
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Blue Beam and other construction related software an asset.
