Humble Beginnings
Peter Young founded Peterson in 1959 with a rented typewriter and a clear ambition: to build a better future for his family. His wife, Rose, supported that vision, making and selling paper flowers until she could surprise Peter with a typewriter of his own. That gesture marked the true beginning of Peterson. Today, that same typewriter sits in our Vancouver office—a daily reminder of our roots and what’s possible when drive meets partnership. Peter’s son Ben, pictured here, has followed in his father’s footsteps as Peterson continues to be a family company.

Anchored in Trust
Peter’s integrity and eye for opportunity laid the foundation for everything to come. Beginning with a single commercial building, he steadily expanded into real estate—forming enduring relationships with several of North America’s most respected developers. Over the decades, Peterson partnered on some of the continent’s most ambitious residential, commercial, and hospitality developments, including Shangri-La Vancouver and Toronto, and the historic Woodward’s redevelopment.
