InternshipThe Data Scientist Intern will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and interpreting data to uncover patterns, trends and relationships across new projects and developments throughout Metro Vancouver.
The Data Scientist Intern will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and interpreting data to uncover patterns, trends and relationships across new projects and developments throughout Metro Vancouver. The ideal candidate should have a diploma or equivalent in data science, computer science or a related field, with some familiarity in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and machine learning, and a strong interest and desire to learn about the real estate and development industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering real estate data from various sources such as MLS, APIs, public records and external datasets;
- Collecting data on new projects and developments throughout Metro Vancouver, including visiting presentation centers and sales galleries;
- Configuring raw data into a usable format to identify missing values, outliers and inconsistencies;
- Developing predictive models using machine learning algorithms to solve business problems;
- Building Working across departments to align data science initiatives with business goals;
- Delivering a dashboard-like product at the culmination of the internship, which can be maintained by Peterson on an ongoing basis;
- Assisting in developing predictive models for property prices, rental yields, and market demands; and
- Supporting the sales team in valuation/pricing of potential and current condo and rental projects.
What You Bring
- A diploma in data science, computer science, or a related field;
- Familiarity in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and machine learning;
- Fundamental understanding of data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau or Matplotlib;
- Basic understanding of machine learning and statistical modeling;
- Strong interest and desire to learn about the real estate and development industry;
- Excellent communication skills– written, editing, and verbal;
- Positive and proactive attitude with a team first mentality;
- Resourceful with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently;
Salary Range: $43,000 – $44,500 per annum
