We are looking for a contract full-time Director, Legal for our legal team. The candidate brings expertise in real estate transactions including development projects, acquisitions, dispositions and loans, and will be providing legal services in connection with corporate structures, partnerships, and other business operations. This is a 12-month maternity leave contract.

This position reports to the General Counsel and has two key fundamental responsibilities: (a) advising on and handling various legal matters with minimal direct supervision, including corporate, partnership, development, leasing, property management, lending and litigation matters and (b) supporting the General Counsel on additional matters, with substantial direct supervision, as assigned; and in each case to ensure the optimal success of Peterson in conducting its business operations, and to ensure that the best interests of Peterson are informed, protected, and defended by professional legal counsel. The position will work closely with the acquisition teams to manage transactions from due diligence to closing, assisting with negotiations and expedite resolutions in a win-win style to maintain and foster long standing relationships and the reputation of the company.

As the preferred candidate, you have a legal degree and more than five (5) years of top-level experience with a focus on full cycle real estate transactions. You also possess the technical and knowledge skills to be able to direct and advise on all aspects of legal and corporate services for the company and all its affiliated and related entities. You will also have experience working with external and internal tax advisors to develop and manage optimal organizational structures for a complex group of limited partnerships, corporations and joint ventures involved in commercial rental properties and development projects.

Salary Range: 165,000 – 200,000
