Carmana Hotel & Suites, located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Houseperson to join our dedicated team. As a hybrid property, we offer both nightly stays in our spacious suites and extended stays in our high-rise residences, all designed with comfort, style, and guest satisfaction in mind.
We are currently seeking a full-time Houseperson who will play a key role in maintaining our hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation. As an ambassador of the hotel, the Houseperson supports the housekeeping team and ensures all public spaces are clean, welcoming, and reflective of our commitment to excellence in guest service.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. With at least one year of experience in a similar role, they are a proactive team player who takes pride in their work and is ready to go the extra mile to support a first-class guest experience.
Some duties and responsibilities will include:
- Responding to all guest requests and enquiries with proper etiquette and in a courteous and professional manner.
- Remaining alert, friendly, courteous, and helpful to guests and fellow associates at all times.
- Maintaining cleanliness and presentation of all public areas, including the lobby, elevators, washrooms, fitness room, laundry room, meeting room, parking areas, staff facilities, and building exteriors.
- Supporting the housekeeping team by managing linen supplies, stripping and making beds, and assisting with guest room setups (e.g., rollaway bed, cribs).
- Assisting with special requests from Front Desk, such as luggage delivery, room support, and uniform distributions.
- Operating housekeeping equipment safely, using appropriate cleaning products, and following all health and safety guidelines.
- Ensuring lost and found items are handled appropriately and reporting maintenance or safety concerns to management.
- Setting up hotel facilities (e.g., meeting room, pajama elevator) and carry out daily tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Level one first aid certificate, an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, standing for extended periods.
- Available to work shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Adaptability and flexibility to different positions and duties other than Houseperson.
- Strong attention to detail, meticulous, and methodical in performing duties.
- Providing quality customer service with a proven ability to multi-task and prioritize demands.
- Collaborative and the ability to work within a team and independently.
- Maintains an open mind and positive attitude towards constructive criticism and accept new ideas or positive change.
- Developing strong, positive, and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- High-level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
